The Manics perform A Design For Life on The Late Late Show. Somehow this is the first American TV performance they've ever done!

To have 'Libraries gave us power' as the first words they said, to perform a song about working class solidarity and to have an almost twenty year old song still having resonance both in the UK and the States, that's what makes the Manics so special. When you think they can't surprise you, with a song you've heard so many times before and they still do! What a band!

And how sublime was it to see James pogoing and Nicky scissor kicking on US TV?

p.s. James' TV hair was curiously solid. I'm unsure how I feel about this.
